Coquito - Delicioso Puerto Rican Eggnog

So I was just put on to this drink a few years ago. For those who don't know Coquito is the Puerto Rican eggnog and it's just DELICIOUS! It was given to me by a co-worker who said his grandmother made huge batches and served them in bottles with a little red ribbon on it. I don't know if that was traditional for them or what but the damn drink is amazing and after talking to my other spanish friends this is a popular drink made around the holidays and is best when it's homemade. The good news is that it is SUPER SIMPLE to make and the ingredients are not hard to get. Below are some ideas on how to make your very own Coquito. Martini of the Week: Agave Negro

  With the holiday coming up it's perfect to make a sweet and summery drink to prepare for a party. Ingredients: 2 blackberries, plus 1 blackberry and 1 lime wheel skewered on a pick 1 cup ice 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup 1/2 ounce Chambord 1 ounce chilled club soda In a cocktail shaker, muddle the 2 blackberries. Add the ice, tequila, lime juice, Simple Syrup and Chambord. Shake well and pour into a rocks glass. Stir in the club soda and garnish with the skewered blackberry and lime wheel.
A little vodka and homemade syrupy goodness makes for an awesomely yummy cocktail ! This recipe is enough to serve 8 girlfriends! Ingredients: 2   seedless oranges, (for syrup) 1   cup(s) sugar 2/3   cup(s) freshly squeezed orange juice 1/2   cup(s) vodka 1   orange, (for cocktail) 1   bottle(s) chilled Champagne or sparkling wine Directions To make syrup: With a sharp knife, thinly slice oranges. Place in a medium nonreactive saucepan and toss with sugar. Let stand for 15 minutes. Add orange juice and vodka to saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Uncover and cook until liquid is syrupy and orange slices are translucent, about 20 minutes. Strain syrup through a fine sieve into a bowl, pressing on solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
